Our enrichment grant programme funds projects that enhance community cohesion, addressing identified areas of need thereby supporting RAF people as they live and work on and around their units.
Supporting You – Enrichment Grant Funding 2017
As your charity, we are absolutely committed to working with you, to find the best methods to support you and enhance your life experiences during your time with the RAF.
Enrichment grant funding is currently focused to support projects that benefit groups of serving personnel, their immediate families and support networks. We define serving personnel as all regular and reserve members of the Royal Air Force.
At this time, we are unable to fund individual enrichment grants or support those who have retired from the RAF, Air Cadets (Air Training Corp or Combined Cadet Force) or Civil Servants. The Fund may be able to provide support to assist wider beneficiary groups where this support is either peripheral to the serving population or where the level of funding requested is proportional. We will however always try to signpost those who we aren’t able to assist directly to the most appropriate charity or organisation.
Did you know… Over the last couple of years we have provided in excess of £250,000 of support to charity partner projects, including the RAF Benevolent Fund’s recent refurbishment of Princess Marina House at Littlehampton
Priorities for 2017
As a charity it is vital that we understand and respond to the evolving needs of the serving RAF community. To ensure the impact of every £1 awarded is maximised, our Trustees have taken the decision to complete a full needs-mapping project in partnership with key organisations. Until the Trustees have completed their review of the initial findings of the project during 2017, we are only able to accept enrichment grant funding applications for a maximum award of £50,000 per project.
Timetable for 2017
Applications may be submitted throughout the year, however they will be subject to consideration by the grants Committee at one of the three Committee meetings scheduled for 2017. 2018 deadlines coming soon.
Deadline dates for completed applications for 2017 have now passed, for reference these were:
- 31 January 2017
- 19 May 2017
- 8 September 2017
Our grants team will closely with you to ensure your tailored application is complete and ready for consideration by the grants Committee. Applications may require significant support and therefore please do factor in sufficient time for this in advance of your deadline. Please do not put forward an application that has not been discussed with us first.

How to Apply
We are able to consider a wide variety of projects for enrichment grant funding. If you have an idea for a project which is supported by your unit and will enhance and enrich the lives of those around you, then please contact our enrichment grant funding team who will be happy to discuss your project and a tailored application process at email@example.com, or call 01494 569136.
Please note – all applications must:
- be submitted on a 2017 application form (this will be provided by us during consultation with the grants team);
- include a minimum of 15% of the total cost of the project funded from other sources (i.e. the Fund can only fund a maximum of 85% of the total project cost);
- be endorsed by the unit Station Commander.
We are unable to provide funding for on-going maintenance and staff costs or support any facilities where there is a public funding commitment (scaled items).
Did you know… We have supported a huge variety of projects to date; a new bowling alley at Mount Pleasant (to be fitted in 2017), numerous refurbishments to community spaces, as well as transport voucher schemes supporting personnel and families based at remote overseas units and locations
