Leading live video streaming platform, Joymo, has landed a multi-year partnership with the Royal Air Force Central Fund to offer the RAF’s 50 sport associations exclusive live streaming services.

The agreement will provide each of the RAF’s sporting associations – which represent more than 10,000 athletes – with access to Joymo’s industry-leading live streaming video platform and associated services.

Joymo will work closely with the RAF Central Fund – the independent charity that provides grant funding to the RAF to ensure personnel can access sport and physical activities – to onboard their sports associations in the coming weeks.

Commenting on the agreement, Ross Perriam, CEO of RAF Central Fund, said: “We can’t wait to get RAF Sport streaming with Joymo. Sport is a vital component of any armed force and a critical element of how the RAF builds operational capability. As such, we are always looking for ways to encourage more Servicemen and women to get involved and improve the experience of those who already participate for RAF sport teams.

“Joymo makes it so simple to livestream our teams and events, and their focus on safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance is first-class. We are delighted that fans, family, friends, coaches, and the participants themselves, will be able to watch our RAF teams compete anytime and anywhere on the Joymo platform.”

Discussing the partnership, Mike Emery, CEO of Joymo, said: “The RAF has a long and proud history when it comes to providing Servicemen and women with the opportunity to engage in sport at all levels. We are looking forward to working closely with their sporting associations over the next three years.

“Joymo is all about empowering athletes, coaches and fans at all levels of sport. Our tools and technology provide a seamless streaming capability that opens up sporting competitions and events to all in a cost-effective manner that can actually generate additional funds for the individual RAF sporting associations”, Emery added.

Joymo’s live video streaming platform is built for athletes, teams and sports, at every level of competition, enabling them to broadcast their content directly to fans who can watch live or on demand. Users can charge supporters per game, competition or event or offer a longer-term ‘season ticket’, with revenues going back directly to the content creators.

Through innovative technology – including a dedicated app, an over-the-top streaming platform and a 4K HD automatic action-tracking camera – Joymo enables content creators to livestream sport directly to fans, athletes, coaches, referees and scouts.

Joymo was founded in Norway in 2017 and soon after launched its remote broadcasting camera solution – the Joymo LiveCaster Pro. The third-generation model of the automated 4K HD camera was launched in early 2020 allowing federations, leagues and clubs to film or livestream games and/or training sessions in a safe, secure way.

Joymo places safeguarding, secure data management and GDPR compliance at the heart of its product, removing the risk for grassroots and longtail sport. An integral part of its streaming platform is secure storage of all content and data in accordance with national privacy regulations and GDPR.

In March 2020, Joymo launched its live streaming solution: Joymo Arena. All video content generated through the Joymo app is processed by the streaming platform and optimised for the best viewer experience.

In the last year, Joymo has successfully launched into the UK and Ireland and was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Sport Industry Awards in the ‘Cutting Edge’ category. The partnership with the RAF Central Fund follows similar agreements with Basketball Ireland – to stream over 200 men and women’s Super League matches – the Welsh Sports Association and the Lancashire Football Association.
