The RAF Central Fund Enrichment Grant Programme provides large-scale support by awarding funding to stations and units to benefit the maximum number of RAF personnel. Enrichment grants greatly help to increase the provision of sport and physical opportunities on RAF bases and are an integral part of the funding that we offer.
Earlier this year, the Scuba Club at RAF Akrotiri was awarded a significant grant from the Fund to enable the purchase of new equipment. The updated kit included wetsuits, face masks, flippers, and breathing apparatus; essential equipment to enable the continued safe participation in the sport, for their club members.
Speaking on behalf of the Western Sovereign Base Area (WSBA) and Scuba Club, Group Captain S J Cloke sent a letter of thanks, regarding their awarded grant: “I’m delighted to be able to tell you that all of the equipment has now been received and integrated into club stock. It is being used on a weekly basis by both qualified club divers and members of the wider community, many of whom are experiencing scuba for the first time – an opportunity which would have diminished significantly later this year due to unserviceable equipment, but for your support.
Your continued support to this and other projects at Akrotiri is essential in the continued provision and enhancement of the ‘offer’ that the Station provides the Whole Force community.”
If you think your station/unit would benefit from Central Fund support to help with a new or existing sports club, then get in touch with our team at grants@rafcf.org.uk.
