It will be a summer to remember for the RAF Polo Association (RAFPA), who took both the Duke of York’s Cup and the Sassoon Cup, winning the Inter-Services 2025 outright!
Wing Commander Victoria Woodhead was delighted to share RAFPA’s news and told us how the support through our charitable grants has helped fuel their success:
“As Chair of the RAF Polo Association, I thought I would pass on some great news; this summer, the RAF Polo Senior Team won the Polo Inter-Services outright, beating both the Royal Navy for the Duke of York’s Cup and the Army for the Sassoon Cup. Although we may have clinched it on point differential in previous years, this is the first time in many years that we have won both games!
This is down, in no small part, to the support we receive from the RAF Central Fund, enabling us to train as a team, get squad members to events and provide access to our great sport to a broader audience. Thank you very much for your ongoing support, and we hope to continue this for many years to come.”
Providing financial support to the RAF Sports Associations is a crucial part of supporting the growth and development of their teams. Our funding helps provide kit and equipment and creates more opportunities for personnel to access the sports on offer in the RAF.
The RAF Sports Lottery is the Fund’s principal fundraising tool. Without the tickets in the lottery, we wouldn’t be able to offer the level of support we do for sport in the RAF.
