The RAF Central Fund is proud to unveil its 2026 Athlete Ambassadors – a group of serving RAF personnel competing at elite levels of sport while continuing to deliver excellence in their professional duties.
This new cohort represents the very best of what sport and life in the RAF can achieve together. Over the next year, we will shine a spotlight on their journeys – exploring how they first became involved in their chosen disciplines, how they balance training and competition with operational roles, and how sport continues to shape their professional and personal development.
Throughout 2026, we will follow their sporting calendars as they compete at the highest levels of RAF, national and international competition. From championship fixtures and race weekends to selection camps and major events, we will share the highs, the challenges and the defining moments that make elite sport so compelling.
But this is about far more than results. Each ambassador’s story offers insight into the transferable skills that sport develops – resilience under pressure, teamwork, discipline, decision-making and leadership. These are not just attributes that win matches or medals; they are qualities that strengthen our operational effectiveness.
By learning how our ambassadors apply lessons from the pitch, track, range or circuit into their RAF roles, we can better understand how sport helps develop sharper, stronger and more adaptable service personnel.
Importantly, several of our ambassadors joined the RAF with no expectation of becoming elite athletes. What they discovered was a community rich in opportunity. Through access to coaching, facilities, time allowances and support networks – including funding and backing from the Central Fund – they were able to pursue their passion and ultimately reach the pinnacle of the sports they love.
Their journeys demonstrate what is possible when talent meets opportunity within a supportive Service environment.
The 2026 RAF Central Fund Athlete Ambassadors represent a diverse mix of sports, underlining the breadth of opportunity available across the RAF. Whether building on an existing sporting background or discovering something completely new after joining, their experiences show that there is truly a sport for everyone.

Across the coming year, we will bring their stories to life through interviews, behind-the-scenes features, and competition updates. We aim not only to inform but to motivate — encouraging greater participation in sport at every level of the RAF community, from individual training goals to thriving station clubs and representative teams.
Sport has always played a vital role in the RAF. It builds camaraderie, develops communication skills, and strengthens both body and mind. By celebrating our Athlete Ambassadors, we also celebrate the wider RAF sporting community that supports them.
