The RAF Central Fund is proud to share its inaugural Impact Report. This comprehensive reflection captures the essence of our work throughout 2024 and the tangible difference we are making to the lives of serving RAF personnel through sport and physical activity.
Ross Perriam, CEO of the RAF Central Fund, explains: “The 2024 Impact Report demonstrates our unwavering commitment to supporting the wellbeing and resilience of serving RAF personnel.
We feel it is important to share the successes and stories behind the work we do. The last year was groundbreaking for the Fund as we welcomed 36 Sports Associations into our fold and developed our first-ever Commercial strategy, focused on increasing the breadth and depth of support we offer to sports in the RAF.”
These steps forward will allow us to deliver on Central Fund’s mission to ensure that all serving personnel have the opportunity to engage in sport and physical activity.
Whether at home or abroad, support such as our Individual Sports Grants programme has made this possible by providing financial support for equipment, competition fees, and travel expenses. These grants enable RAF personnel to participate in sport at all levels, from grassroots to elite competitions, helping to build both physical and mental resilience.
The 2024 Impact Report highlights how these grants, and the broader support the Central Fund offers, have made a tangible difference in the lives of RAF personnel. Sport is not just an activity; it’s an essential tool for maintaining mental health and fostering a sense of community.
The Station Grants delivered across the year were another key area of focus. These grants funded improvements to facilities, equipment, and new sports initiatives at RAF stations around the world.
From introducing Padel courts in Cyprus to developing an Indoor Skydiving program at RAF Odiham, these projects provide exciting opportunities for personnel to stay active, no matter their location. The report details how these grants have helped engage thousands of RAF personnel, offering them new ways to connect and stay healthy.
Inclusivity has also been a major focus in 2024. We’ve worked to ensure that sport is accessible to all personnel, including those facing deployment or isolation challenges.
Ultimately, the 2024 RAF Central Fund Impact Report is about celebrating progress and looking ahead.
As we continue to meet the evolving needs of the RAF community, the commitment to expanding access to sport and promoting wellbeing remains as strong as ever.
The Fund encourages you to explore the full report to discover how it’s making a difference in the lives of thousands of RAF personnel.
