The aim of the RAF Sailing Association (RAFSA) is to enable personnel to enjoy and actively participate in the sport of sailing through our subdivisions: Offshore, Dinghy, and Windsurfing. RAFSA welcomes all ranks, from complete novices learning the basics to experienced sailors competing in Inter-Service competitions or even taking part in world-renowned events.
Sailing is not only fun but also an excellent way to stay fit. You can progress at your own pace, gradually building skills and confidence, while improving cardiovascular fitness, strengthening core muscles, and enhancing balance and stability.
It’s also highly beneficial for mental wellbeing. Time on the water offers a sense of freedom and serenity, helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and provide a refreshing escape from everyday pressures.
RAFSA offers a variety of disciplines to explore. Our Offshore yachts are based in Plymouth, Portsmouth, and Ardrossan (Scotland), while Dinghy and Windsurfing activities frequently take place at Rutland. Our Powerboating teams also provide vital support across events in all subdivisions.
Whether you want to develop new skills, stay active, or simply experience the thrill of sailing, there’s a place for you in RAFSA.
