At the Fund we are dedicated to providing support to serving RAF personnel to develop, achieve and help create an enhanced sense of well-being, morale, esprit de corps and community cohesion.
We provide support through enrichment and sports grant funding for stations, directly to individuals and indirectly through the RAF Sports Associations. For more information on the specific details of our funding streams please visit the relevant section below.

As your charity, we are absolutely committed to working with you, to find the best methods to enhance and support you as you work and live within the serving RAF community. Working directly alongside you from our base at HQ Air Command helps us to better understand the challenges presented in everyday life within the RAF.
We are currently able to support serving personnel, their immediate family and support network. We define serving personnel as:
- Individuals currently serving in the Royal Air Force
- Members of the Royal Air Force Reserves
We are currently unable to provide support to individuals who have retired from the RAF, Air Cadets (Air Training Corp or Combined Cadet Force) or Civil Servants. We will however always try to signpost those who we aren’t able to assist directly to the most appropriate charity or organisation.
Did you know… Approximately 80% of the money needed each year to fund the RAF Sports Associations is provided by the RAF Central Fund
Our enrichment grant programme funds projects that aim to enhance community cohesion so that RAF people feel cared for as they live and work on and around their stations. Projects supported are wide ranging: contributing to the new safety buoy at English Bay; funding a bee-keeping course to enhance well-being and responsibility and creating sensory rooms for families.
Enrichment grant funding supports unit based initiatives that they believe will make a real difference to their people. Visit the enrichment grant funding page to find out more.
Our sports grant programme aims to develop well-being and wider experiences for RAF people through their participation in sport. We offer funding support to individuals participating at all levels, from beginner to International, across a wide variety of activities. The Fund also provides support directly to the RAF Sports Associations.
Visit the sports grant funding page to find out more including details of the policy, guidance and application forms.
We can’t continue to do this without your help – ‘Be Part of the Team’! The RAF Sports Lottery is our main source of fundraising which enables us to continue supporting you. Sign up for your tickets to be in with a chance of winning from the total prize pot of £25,000 each week.
Please support us further by fundraising for the RAF Central Fund as individuals, teams, associations and stations. Make us your chosen charity – for your Mess or unit, running the London Marathon, holding an annual fundraiser, or something more creative, help us to help you more.
