Hundreds of RAF personnel will soon take to the Austrian slopes as part of the 2026 Alpine Challenge, an annual winter sports event that brings together attendees for a fortnight of fun and alpine accomplishments. Providing opportunities for both first-time enthusiasts and experienced athletes, the Challenge offers the perfect environment to develop skills, train and compete.

Flying High – Cpl David Todd’s Story
Corporal David Todd’s epic gliding journey began through the RAF Gliding & Soaring Association’s (RAFGSA) 'Go Solo' scholarship, a programme designed to help junior ranks take their first steps into gliding with the Association. RAF Central Fund funding is key to the provision of these scholarships, helping RAFGSA to widen access to their sport and create extraordinary opportunities that enrich the lives of RAF personnel.

Cpl Jennifer Sabine – Packing a Punch for Women in Sport
Recently named ‘Boxer of the Year’ at the RAF Boxing Association’s AGM, Cpl Jennifer Sabine has quickly become one of the RAF’s standout sporting talents. In just two and a half years, she has risen from grassroots boxing to joining the RAF Elite Boxing Squad, securing both the National Development Championship title and the 2024 Women’s Winter Box Cup, as well as reaching the quarterfinals of the National Amateur Championship.

RAF Darts off to a flying start with Winmau!
Recent partners Winmau, have wasted no time in demonstrating their commitment as a sponsor of RAF Darts (RAFDA), supplying RAF station clubs with boards, mats, and surrounds for their brand-new darts facilities. With additional funding from the RAF Central Fund supporting further kit and equipment, these fantastic new spaces include professional lighting and welcoming areas for players to socialise and relax.
